    What sized truck should I buy for my business?
    I mowed grass last summer and am planning on turning it into a year-round property maintenance company that mows grass, removes leaves, and plows snow. So, normally, for mowing pulling a trailer with a zero-turn mower or two and some other equipment can be accomplished by a 1/2 ton pickup, but a 3/4 ton truck will have an easier time plowing snow and can haul a bigger blade. I would say the truck would be getting used for the mowing/landscaping portion of the business 10x more than the plowing/salting portion. I have noticed, while observing others that 3/4 ton trucks are often used for this type of business ( but I have seen many doing the same thing with 1/2 tons as well). I am afraid of the plowing portion of the business being too hard on a 1/2 ton, but wasting money on gas (or diesel which I am also considering) year round for a 3/4 ton when it isn’t being used. Honestly, snow accumulation happens 3 – 6x year where I’m from, but I still need the truck to be able to handle a plow and salt spreader.
