Acura Used Cars- The Mdx A Luxury Suv

Acura used cars like the MDX was introduced and in showrooms back in 2001. This mid-size luxury SUV was developed to compete against the likes of the Land Rover Discovery, BMW X5, Lexus RX300, Infiniti QX4 and the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class. The Honda Motor Corporation which is the parent company for Acura saw how much demand there was for a mid-size luxury SUVs in North America and wanted to get into this lucrative segment of the market place. Acura is known as a reliable brand for new and used cars, so I will be doing my research on the Acura MDX as a used vehicle to look at.

Acura MDX used cars:

The MDX is a spacious mid-size SUV that has a lot of comfort inside. Some of the features that the MDX has inside the cabin are very impressive. You have wood panels and leather trim throughout the vehicle and a center console that controls the heating/air and music system. The center console also shares the navigation system with voice recognition and the DVD entertainment console. The speedometer and engine gauges are easy to read and the MDX comes standard with power steering, ABS brakes, heating/air, power windows, am/fm radio and CD player. The used models I looked at are from the years 2003 to 2006 and were all similar in stature.

I have one Fuel statistics for the Acura MDX and its from the year 2003. The fuel rating was 14-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 9.4-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. Also just to let you know, you must use a premium gasoline for this model and this makes this particular vehicle more expensive than any of its competitors SUVs to fill up.

In 2003 Acura used cars like the MDX used a V6, 3.5 litre engine and this had 240 horsepower. Then in 2004 the MDX used the same engine platform but increased the horsepower to 5 and this gave it a total of 245hp. The MDX comes with an automatic transmission and is a standard all-wheel drive base.

Lets look at the pros and cons of the Acura MDX as a used vehicle:
1-2003 MDX models have a problem with the transmissions fluid cooling system.
2-There are problems with front springs breaking due to corrosion.
3-There are clanking noises from the rear brakes
4-The National Traffic Safety Administration gave it a five star rating for both front and passenger crash tests done to it.

I hope this helps if youre looking at Acura used cars like the MDX.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Luxury SUV?
Is it true that Aston Martin (my favorite car company) is going to make an SUV? If so, send me a pic of it. If pics aren't available of that car because it has not gotten completely figured out yet, just answer good, NOT STUPID, answers. And if there is no Aston Martin SUV, tell me a good foreign luxury SUV.

    • ANSWER:
i dont know if they are but there's a website that has a whole bunch of new model cars like ones from 2009 and 2010.

go to www.edmunds.com/ to see those cars

  2. QUESTION:
What is the best luxury SUV to buy used?
I am looking to buy a luxury SUV (i.e., considering Lexus RX, Acura, BMW X5, Infiniti, etc.). Any suggestions? I am looking to get one that has about 50k miles and am looking for value. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
Personally, I love luxury suvs, and I want them to be my first car. I most advise you to stay away from American cars, they're junk on wheels. I favor German cars, because they're beautiful, luxurious and powerful, but Japanese cars because of their quality. I must recommend the 2010 Mercedes GLK350- starts at about 33k, sounds overpriced, but its worth it. They last for like 300,000 miles and are very reliable and very comfortable. They get good MPG and are very nice suvs. Google it, and look at it. If you don't like it, I still recommend to stay away of American cars.

  3. QUESTION:
Any idea which one is the best luxury SUV in the market?
i'm planning to buy a brand new luxury SUV. I cannot decide which one should i get. I need a 3 row seats. any suggestions? want to know their PROS & CONS.

    • ANSWER:
Infiniti QX56 - Inside, there's standard seating for seven (though seating for eight is a no-cost option) in a cabin that reviewers compare to that of a luxury private jet. Since it's an Infiniti, the QX56 comes loaded with high-tech standard features, as well as some innovative available safety features, like Intelligent Cruise Control. Has a big v8 engine, and the performance is rated at a 9.2 out of 10. Its cheaper then your typical Escalade, Benz, BMW, Audi. Best bang for your buck, and has highest rating in its class amongst luxury suvs.

BMW x5 - The 2012 BMW X5 is one of the sportiest SUVs on the market it comes with standard AWD, a third row seat, best in class handling, and better gas mileage for a third row suv. I'd get the diesel version.

Audi Q7 or Volkswagen Touareg - Same platform, just touareg is a little cheaper. Good performance, awesome AWD system. Both are sharp, and have third row seating available.

  4. QUESTION:
What kind of Luxury large SUV is fuel efficient?
I am looking to get a large luxury SUV that is fuel efficient. I know there are hybrids out there but they are just too expensive for my budget, since I am getting a used car. I've been looking to the Acura MDX but I don't think is big enough. Any other suggestions? I am looking for fuel efficient!!
When I mean large, I was talking about space, specially in the back to carry large items. any other suggestions welcome!

    • ANSWER:
Your terms are mutually exclusive. The Honda Pilot and Acura MDX are about as big as you can get with decent fuel mileage. Anything larger is going to be a big body-on-frame, V8 powered behemoth.

If you are worried about affording the fuel, you will definitely have trouble paying for the vehicle (purchase, maintenance, insurance). Better get something smaller.

  5. QUESTION:
What Luxury SUV's can pull a horse trailer?
What luxury SUV's can pull a horse trailer?

Could an Audi Q7 pull one?
    Or a BMW X3?

    • ANSWER:
There are a lot of variables to this question. How heavy of a trailer? That is the question you need to ask yourself. If you are looking at a one or two horse trailer, check the gross (loaded) weight of the trailer you are considering buying, or already have. The numbers below are based upon 2007 models, but it will give you a rough idea.

An Audi Q7 can pull a trailer weighing up to 5500# standard equipped or up to 6600# with the heavy duty tow package.
      http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/05/05/005780.html

The BMW X3 has a maximum tow capacity of 3300#.
      http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182045

An average two horse trailer without a dressing room, weighs 2600# without the weight of the horse(s), tack, feed, etc., so this should give you a pretty good idea. If you are going to larger and heavier trailers, use the above posters recommendations of SUV manufacturers, they have much greater tow capacity.
