QUESTION:
How does the Suzuki SX4 AWD system work?
I DO NOT want a link to the Official Suzuki site. Anyone mind breaking it down for someone who isn't a car mechanic? I'm trying to compare it to the Subaru AWD system (which I love but I'm curious about Suzuki's SX4 AWD system).-
ANSWER:
Well Subaru has 2 systems. Manual models use a system that is normally 50-50 split, and the computer redistributes power if any wheels are slipping. Automatic models use a system that has an electronically controlled central clutch that in conjunction with the computer, determines where power is needed the most (I'm assuming it may be FWD biased for normal driving).Suzuki on the other hand actually has selectable AWD. In normal mode, the system is in FWD only. The next mode is computer controlled AWD, which like the Subaru distributes power to where it is needed. The third mode is 50-50 split, similar to Subaru except it is a permanent split (i.e. always 50-50).
*50-50 split means 50% power to the front wheels and 50% power to the rear wheels*
