VW Passat TDI
The VW Passat TDI is Volkswagen's clean diesel engine version of the ever-popular VW Passat. Starting at just over ,000, the VW Passat TDI is an affordable option for VW enthusiasts looking for a vehicle that is more earth-friendly.
VW Jetta TDI and VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI
The Volkswagen is notably one of the most iconic VW cars of the brand, and is now available in clean diesel TDI technology. Thanks to this great innovative technology, the Jetta TDI gets up to 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway. Its powerful engine is capable of 236lb-ft of torque. The Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen TDI also features the same power and efficiency as its sedan sisters - the VW Passat TDI and VW Jetta TDI. Its sporty styling and functional utility make this wagon a unique, eco-friendly option for VW drivers who like to not only help save the environment, but get out and explore and enjoy it as well!
VW Golf TDI
Not to be outshone by its TDI siblings, the VW Golf TDI will also be featured at the LA International Auto Show in Orange County, California. Spunky and sporty, the VW hatchback is also available in a clean diesel engine and offers the same horsepower and fuel efficiency as the Jetta or Passat, in a compact hatchback style.
VW Touareg Hybrid
Lastly, the VW Touareg Hybrid will also be shown at California's LA International Auto Show this fall. The VW Touareg Hybrid utilizes different VW technology than the TDI
vehicles, but achieves many of the same outstanding results. The 3.0L Supercharged TSI engine works seamlessly with the electric motor and hybrid battery to deliver a combined 380 horsepower and run 0-60 in just 6.2 seconds.

QUESTION:
How long should I idle my Jetta TDI from a cold winter start ? How about when the block heater is plugged in?
The Jetta TDI is diesel, and my car is a 2006 model.-
ANSWER:
A good policy for any car, diesel or otherwise, is:
Get in and start the car, then put your seat belt on and do what you have to, check the oil pressure and go. The following should take up about 15 to 30 seconds and that's plenty of time for the oil pressure to come up and get moving around.
Drive off but try to keep the power/RPM's down until the temperature needle comes off the post then you can increase your power. I like to wait until the temp is at operating temp before I demand FULL power but not really necessary.
The only time I let the engine idle is after a hard drive (ie: freeway) and if I just pull into a rest area, I will give it a minute or two to cool down the turbo before shutting it off. This is not as important on a diesel as it is on a gasser since a diesel runs a little cooler.
If you have the block heater plugged in the temp should be off the peg almost as soon as you start and full temp will come sooner.

QUESTION:
Is it possible to put the VW v10 TDI engine in a Toyota Sequoia?
I like the V8 in the Sequoia now, but in the future, I may need better fuel economy. Can I fit a Volkswagen V10 TDI engine into the engine bay without too much modification? If so, does anyone have any idea how much the engine would cost new?-
ANSWER:
It will fit with a LOT of modification, and will cost tens of thousands for a new one. You'll have to import it from Germany, as they are no longer sold in the USA.It would be easier to import a V8 turbo diesel Toyota Land Cruiser from a market where they are sold, such as Australia.

QUESTION:
How to get more power out of a Golf TDI?
I've got a 2010 Golf TDI and i want to get more power out of it. I know i can't do much about the exhaust to this car so im more likely to get a new chip. Any suggestions?-
ANSWER:
Contrary to what Hank said, a simple ECU tune can produce huge gains in turbo diesels. VW's TDI's are no exception. Since this is a newer car, you will not be using a "chip" for ECU tuning, You'll be using a hand held tuner or a laptop.
